making topology happen, .dxf and Roots

Hello,
	I have vector and attribute files created by v.in.dxf
The files look fine, but I need to restore the topology which was
lost when I converted from Roots to dxf.  
	Can anyone outline the steps I need to use to restore topology
so that GRASS recognizes my polygons as areas with attributes, rather
than unsnapped lines?
