A big THANK YOU to P. Martijn van Leusen of
Institute of Prehistory, University of Amsterdam
martijn at scanner.frw.uva.nl

for posting information about a Grass beginner's tutorial.

I have just finished FTPing Grass4.1 source files from
INTERNET. I was able to use FTP to log in to scanner.frw.uva.nl.
Then I used cd pub
            binary
            get grassman.wp
and successfully down loaded the WordPerfect version. I have it
printed and today my student used the Beginner's Manual to start
up GRASS 4.1 for the first time.

Some things about using INTERNET (and GRASS) are obvious once
stated, but we beginners need help.

I have expended a great effort to acquire GRASS 4.1 and compile
it on an older SUN 3/260 workstation which uses the Motorola
68020 microprocessor. If anyone needs the binary code on 60 Mb
QIC tape (which we could not get), I'll make it available.
