Kathy,
I beleive that the dig_drivers directory is not needed.  From what I know the dig_drivers/*
files are for the old v.digit, ie. pre grass4.1, now called v.digit2 in grass4.1.

If someone else knows more about this feel free to explain/correct where needed.
