Wanted -- GIS/UNIX NETWORK SYSTEMS MANAGER
Central Washington University invites applications for a new position 
of GIS Systems Manager.  Principal duties will be to maintain a diverse 
network of 7+ Unix workstations, plus assorted Macintosh and PC platforms, 
currently sharing approximately 13 GB of disk; control user accounts and 
system security; learn/use GIS and assist in teaching GIS courses (GRASS, 
ARC/INFO, IDRISI, etc.); program in 'C', FORTRAN and Shell languages to 
extend system capabilities; assist with import and export of data sets; 
demonstrate GIS to visitors; instruct users from a variety of departments 
in Unix, Internet, etc.  GIS experience not required to start; we will
train.  This is a permanent 12 month position which is 50% state funded.
The successful candidate will be expected to participate in a variety
of externally funded activities for an additional 50% of salary, 
such as: GIS database development and analysis; teaching GIS in summer short 
courses; programming/analysis of geophysical data; teaching an occassional 
course in Computer Science or another discipline.  Emphasis of applications 
on our network is resource management, archeology, and physical/biological 
sciences.  Bachelors degree in a technical or scientific discipline 
required, M.S. or Ph.D. desirable.  Salary: $30-32K.  Preferred start
