s.surf.tps error messages

I'm trying to interpolate a huge region (2667 x 2667 pixels). I issue
the command:
s.surf.tps input=MDT_sites elev=PP dmin=0.1 tension=60 smooth=0.1 segmax=40
npmin=200

I start geting messages (thousands of them) of this sort:
x[5]=0.045412,x[73]=0.196665,y[5]=0.128602,y[73]=0.533392
ident. points in segm.

What's wrong?
I run grass4.1.5 on IBM RS6000

MDT_sites comes from digitized lines using:
v.in.ascii
v.support
v.to.sites -ai
