p.map use with floating point GRASS

GRASS users- 
 
    Does anyone have recommendations for constructing
 graphic GRASS map output from GRASS data that includes
 a floating point raster map?
 
   I am getting segmentation faults with the raster map
 I have created, and  am unclear as to the extent of the
 floating point update changes within p.map, p.map.new, and
 ps.map; and any success reports using these map commands
 within fp grass would be appreciated.
