need help

[Pu Bu Ci Ren]

Hi,
I new user, I got problem, I was using d.rast to disply satellite image,
the colour I choosed is grey scale, but I only get 2 colours: white and grey,
does anybody know how to display image in 256 color(maybe it's not nesseary,
but it is necessary to display more than 32 colors). I am using grass4.1,
installed on SGI.
 another problem is when I am trying to use d.display, the background colour is
grey, but the colour of menu is yellow, I even can't recoginize what it is,
it is possible to change these default color tables ?
