evaluating grass

Hello GRASS Society :
        We are a team trying to evaluate GRASS 4.1, but we need some help to 
learn more about it. We have already the Reference Guide, but it does not 
help us much. We want to know if there is a User Guide or any other document 
that can teach us how to use the program. We will appreciate any information
about evaluations comparing GRASS vs. other GISs. We also want to know if we 
can assemble all GRASS commands into a main program.
