displaying maps from multiple grass locations

You could try symbolic linking the files together.
For instance, assuming the file is called coast at PERMANENT in location UK
and you want it in coast at here in location Skye, assuming your grass
database location is /data :
ln -s /data/UK/PERMANENT/cell/coast /data/Skye/here/cell/coast

repeat for cell, cellhd, colr, and whereever else coast is.
