patches to 5.0beta

Hi Agus,

we are listening with big ears to the list and
grab all useful information. Bill Hughes already
created two patch files for the July 5.0beta2 sources 
and  Linux(ALPHA64) binaries. Linux (Intel) are also
there, other platforms shall follow soon. If anybody
could create a SGI binary package containing both
patches I would be glad.
