ANNOUNCE: GRASS 4.2.1 (V 21) released

Dear GRASS-Community,

today a new GRASS version was released: GRASS 4.2.1 (V.21).
As far as GRASS 5.0 is in beta stage, GRASS 4.2.1 will
be supported for some more time. Later most of the
modules shall be migrated to GRASS 5x.

Many, many thanks to all people contributing to GRASS!!

What's new in source code:
   - TclTKGRASS is included now in source code and binary packages
   - balloon help for the TclTKGRASS main menu (Jacques Bouchard)
   - added src.alpha/vector/v.in.shape (Frank Warmerdam)
   - added r.out.geotiff (src.alpha/scripts/r.out.geotiff) (Jill Schuler)
   - changed src/CMD/head/linux: use ncurses instead of curses now (M.N.)
   - added XDRIVER and CELL driver to src/CMD/lists/GRASS (M.N.)

What's new in Linux binaries:
   - the bugfixes and additions above
   - the new binaries are based on libc.so.6 (aka glibc2) now,
     we follow a major step in Linux development. Also the "libcurses"
     problem shall be fixed as "libncurses" are used now.
     I hope that the Linux code runs on Redhat 5.2, SuSe 6.0 etc.
     without problems.

     For those having an older Linux, the former GRASS Linux binary
     is still provided for some time.


Then the Sample Data page was reorganized. Download sample data
in topic related packages now:

All packages shall be available the next days on the Web mirror servers.
