Hi,

Thanks to everybody who suggested methods of improving my DEM. On the 
advice of Helena Mitasova I managed to get a much better result.  
Following her methodology of using r.random on previous DEMs to 
generate more spot heights in the areas with no contours I was able 
to create a DEM without noticeable segmentation.
