[GRASSLIST:1932] digitilize shapes

I have a problem with the digitalization of 
shape files in Grass 5.7. 
I registered a shape and I can correctly display 
it. I would like to modify the shape and save 
the result as shape. 
  
I tried to digit it, with v.digit, but the 
output display say: 
"Warning: shape file format can not be update. 
Cannot open old vector ***.shp at PERMANENT on 
level 2"  
 
I can convert the shape file in grass vector 
format and then digitilize it but I cannot 
convert the vector in a shape file at the end 
because the command v.out.shape is not present 
in Grass 5.7. 
 
Can someone help me?
