While in v.digit,  label your lines, then run v.to.rast.
Pay attention to your window resolution when you convert and display.
(Note this applies to GRASS4.1 and there maybe something slicker in 5.0.2.)

I created a line with v.digit and I now want to convert it to an area.
Seems like a simple question, but how do I do it?
