[GRASSLIST:2499] r.stats/r.report problem -- ?

I don't know if this is a problem w/ r.stats or with me (likely the 
latter), but when I do either r.stats or r.report on a fp map I 
generated, asking for 10 bins, I get the following:

  r.stats -a input=gh1.step3 nsteps=10

This shows that there are only 900 m^2 of the region for the last range 
of values (0.89-0.99).  But this is wrong.  If I do the following:
d.rast gh1.step3 vallist=0.9-1
I get the attached map.  There is clearly a considerable area in the 
range 0.89-0.99.  And if I do r.stats without bins, I get:
