[GRASS-user] r.in.xyz: Could open text file ~ 2.5GB

OK, I think there's a breakthrough. When I run grass63 from
/opt/grass6/bin.i686-pc-linux-gnu/grass63, r.in.xyz works! Well, it's
*working*, at any rate. No error message when opening and reading a 2.8GB
xyz file. It's going to run for quite some time. But if I run the usual
grass63 from the command prompt, I keep getting the same old behavior. Why
the difference?
