Hello all,

Markus proposed to form a GRASS promotion team to promote GRASS GIS. I
agree with him that we need more "GRASS GIS awareness" in all kind of
institutions. My own experience shows that most people working with
GIS doesn't even know GRASS or think it's some of these unstable
Freeware for nerds without knowing the potential of it. So I think we
should start some sort of "Branding" ;-) .

So I think we should do some PR work and I would like to start. It
would be great if there are some other people out there could join me.

The first thing I like to do is to create a brochure where all
capabilities of GRASS are described which we can spread among
potential GRASS users . The German GRASS user group had made one some
time ago and I will see if we can use any of their ideas or templates
or whatever.

There will be more work, like getting in contact with all people which
might be interested in GRASS like govermental authorities, send Press
releases from GRASS to interested magazins, websites, etc...  Build up
of a contact database....


I just see this mail as a kickoff because I think PR should not be
unterestimenated.
