- GRASS GIS 6.4.1 (2011) is actual, please update if possible

- "wingrass": the standalone wingrass-installer (from http://wingrass.fsv.cvut.cz/grass64/, http://wingrass.fsv.cvut.cz/grass65/, http://wingrass.fsv.cvut.cz/grass70/), and not osgeo4w-grass-gis (http://trac.osgeo.org/osgeo4w/wiki/PackageListing#GRASS)

at the moment there is following for a Grass-R-connection implemented in WinGrass64
(1) the WinGrass64-installer searches during installation for a installed R and writes - if found - the R-installation-path to %PATH% in the grass64.bat-starting script (see http://trac.osgeo.org/grass/browser/grass/branches/develbranch_6/mswindows/GRASS-Installer.nsi#L660[http://trac.osgeo.org/grass/browser/grass/branches/develbranch_6/mswindows/GRASS-Installer.nsi#L660])
(2) you can start "Grass-command-line" - it's a windows-command-line, not a msys-rxvt-terminal (you can find this starting option under Programs -> Grass64 -> Grass command line; but not as a desktop icon)
with this starting option you start a Grass-session in the good old text mode. if you type R in the command line, then you start R inside a Grass-session like in Linux.


I'm always using this way (R-session within a Wingrass-session) successfully.

Hello Helmut,

Thanks for your assistance. I'm running GRASS GIS 6.4.0 (2010) and R 2.12.2 on a current Windows platform. I created the GRASS DEM derivatives using the Windows-based GUI and the r.param.scale function. I'm not sure what you mean by "wingrass" but does this help? Also, I am running R directly - that is, I am not running it within GRASS. Would this make a difference?
