[GRASS-user] 8 Release Candidate

I've been trying to run the 8 release candidate. I'm on a stock Ubuntu 
(21.10) install and I've downloaded the binary 8 release candidate for 
grass. I do have Grass 7.8.5 running.

Anyway - I've installed in a custom location and in the default. I start 
grass and get. The GRASS Splash screen does come up and stays up for 
about 2 secs and then I'm sitting at the prompt. I can't get the GUI up 
and running. Thoughts (I can file a bug report if needed):

./grass
