<div>After some changes I've built OSX bin of avcimport and e00conv.
You can download the zip file (460 kb) for testing at:</div>

e00conv uncompress an e00 compressed file.<br>
avcimport converts e00 files to Arc/info coverage and the new file
created can be imported in Grass with v.in.e00 or v.in.ogr.<br>

Install<br>

put 6 bin inside bin folder of grass60 and grass60cvs or wherewere you
want to use. Example in Grass:<br>
grass60cvs.app/Contents/Resources/grass-6.0.cvs/bin<br>

Use<br>
---<br>
Now it's possible to use v.in.e00 in Grass 6.<br>
In GIS Manager select File->Import->Vector map->ESRI e00
format<br>
In the window select your E00 file (ex. myfile.e00), the input type
(ex. point) and the name of new vector (ex. point_from_e00). Press Run
and you have imported your e00 file.<br>
v.in.e00 is not complete and it's possible to have errors.<br>
<br>
You have more controls via terminal for input type and layers<br>
In grass terminal enter (example):<br>
% avcimport /e00files/myfile.e00 /e00files/mynewcoverage<br>
% v.in.ogr -o dsn=/e00files/mynewcoverage/ layer=LAB type=point
output=point_from_e00<br>
