I want to know steps needed for the compilation &amp; running the sample program in grass.<br>

I want to run one sample program say import of raster image..<br>

please give the steps for executing <a href="http://this.it">this.it</a> will help me to start development on grass.<br>

I have tried to add r.example in the raster dir then make the neccesary changes in Make file..<br>
then I run make,make install ..but it does not work..<br>
