I've now downloaded gvSIG OADE 2010. Thanks for putting me on to this by the way.... it's brilliant!

However, I'm struggling to setup GRASS in SEXTANTE settings window. Doesn't recognise GRASS GIS installation folder (error message 'The selected folder does not contain a valid GRASS installation') .... or perhaps what i mean is that I don't know where the GRASS installation folder is on the mac. I've tried several different options, but all give same error message.

Any help would be great.

Cheers

Becky

Dr Rebecca Rennell

Uist Archaeology

www.uistarchaeology.com

becky@uistarchaeology.com

> Date: Fri, 13 Aug 2010 15:45:05 +0100
> From: benjamin.ducke@oxfordarch.co.uk
> To: grass-user@lists.osgeo.org
> Subject: Re: [GRASS-user] AdvancedViewshedAnalysis
>
> Hi Becky,
>
> if you want to have it super easy, download and install
> gvSIG OADE 2010:
>
> http://www.oadigital.net/software/gvsigoade
>
> When you run the installer, make sure to tick all available
> extensions, so you get the SEXTANTE and GRASS geoprocessing tools.
> Full instructions are here:
>
> ftp://88.208.250.116/gvSIG_OADE_Installation.pdf
>
> A quickstart guide for gvSIG is also available:
>
> ftp://88.208.250.116/gvSIG_OADE_Quickstart.pdf
>
> ... but surely, someone at your department is already using gvSIG?
>
> You can then run a large number of GRASS modules directly via
> the SEXTANTE graphical user interface.
>
> r.cva and r.promincence are already included.
>
> Best,
>
> Ben
>
> On 08/13/2010 12:38 PM, Rebecca Rennell wrote:
> >
> > Hi GRASS-Users
> >
> > Apologies for cross-posting.
> >
> > My difficulty is with install AdvancedViewshedAnalysis extension using GEM within GRASS 6.4.ORC6
> >
> > command 'gem6' is not recognised
> >
> > command 'gem install AdvancedViewshedAnalysis.tar' produces the following error message
> >
> > ERROR: Could not find a valid gem 'AdvancedViewshedAnalysis.tar' (>= 0) in any repository
> >
> > I have an older version of GRASS (GRASS 6.3.0). I also don't understand why the tar file is recognised from GRASS 6.3 but not 6.4.
