When you include in any one of your multiplication a number with at least one decimal your result should be a floating raster. Perhaps not as easy as what you are asking for, but it shouldn't be too error prone, should it?<br>

What you suggest is exactly what I am doing - but it is very error<br>
prone, as I have to put this into numerous calculations (this is part<br>
of a simulation model).<br>

What I would like to do is tho change the default type from CELL to<br>
FCELL - i.e. whenever a new raster is created, it will *always* and<br>
*automatically* be saved in a FCELL raster, even if it only contains<br>
integer values, and not in a CELL raster.<br>
