After I sent the email, I reinstalled Kyngesbury's 6.4.2-3 release
and had no problem running mysql. The "problem" may be limited to
Michael Barton's snapshots. Regardless, its solved on my end.<br>

Did you compile GRASS from source? I'm using 6.4.2 from the
repositories on Linux and it's definitely got MySQL support.<br>
