He is opening GRASS from MSYS using the MSYS shortcut in the GRASS program group in the start menu. On my system, this opens a black window with a command prompt.<div><br class="webkit-block-placeholder"></div><div>The problem the student is having is that the command prompt is not showing up. I am not referring to the GRASS command prompt, but the MSYS command prompt. All that appears is a cursor. For the output window, he is using the Run button.</div>

Because he didn't start GRASS from MSYS. Please, read the "launching GRASS"<br>

I am TAing a brand new class that is using GRASS. I have a student that is<br>
using WinGRASS 6.3RC6. He is running Windows XP.<br>
