Thanks to Ela and Monica for a very inspiring webinar today and sharing their experiences on INSPIRE Academy and their training programs for Public Administrations. This will be a good opportunity for other organisations to learn ideas and plan training programs for staff in public administration.

For example in the UK alone there are hundreds of local authorities who are all using GIS who are under severe budget constraints (but currently spending millions of pounds every year in proprietary licences costs ) , so it is good opportunity for them and also other countries to think about innovative long term solutions. There needs to be national level initiatives to train staff in public administration in FOSS which i think is a great opportunity for organisations like Ordnance Survey in the UK.

One thing that was interesting from the Q&A session, where you remarked that though there are not many universities currently in Poland teaching QGIS, most students first hear about QGIS at workshops/events run at GIS Day and then start using it for their dissertations. So maybe from next year we need to have more OSGeo presence in these events to create more wider awareness.

Thanks again Ela and Monica for sharing your ideas and Alex (MundoGeo) for organising the webinar. It was a really good start for our webinar series for 2015.

All- we welcome ideas/interest for the next webinar. If you are interested to present, please let me know asap. Thanks.

Suchith
