Folks: It is my pleasure to recommend that the MapBuilder project graduate from the OSGeo incubation process. The project is in great shape. It has:

   - all the necessary project infrastructure (mailing lists, version control repository, defect tracking, project website and software documentation)
   - a diverse and active developer community, with a PSC in place
   - a healthy user community
   - undergone a thorough provenance review
   - ironed out any license issues

The project has been ready for a number of weeks. However, we choose to wait and see if any changes to the incubation process might affect the project (they have not) or if discussions surrounding webmap.js and OpenLayers would have a substantive change in the project.

Webmap.js is planned to be an AJAX map rendering library that can be use by other web mapping clients like MapBuilder. It will be based upon OpenLayers and MapBuilder intent to use it when available.

The roles of the different web mapping clients is becoming clearer and the roles for different clients are becoming clearer. The page http://wiki.osgeo.org/index.php/Choosing_a_Web_Mapping_Platform is a start at defining these roles.

MapBuilder's niche is to provide a tailable, feature rich, standards compliant, AJAX web mapping client.
