We invite applications from outstanding individuals for a PhD student
position (TV-L 13/2) to support the core interdisciplinary research
team at PIK. The goal is to analyse interactions between climate
change, terrestrial water cycle and human land and water use at the
regional scale using process-based computer models.

The candidate for position should hold a university degree in
hydrology, water management, geoecology, geoinformatics, environmental
system analysis or a related discipline, and preferably have some
experience in hydrological modelling and programming (Fortran, C).
Data analysis skills (ArcGIS, MapWindow, GRASS), fluency in English
(writing, speaking), oral presentation skills, and the ability to work
in an interdisciplinary team are further essential requirements. The
position involves integrated vulnerability assessment related to the
water cycle at the large regional scale with a focus on climate
change, intensive water resources management and land use, using the
ecohydrological river basin model SWIM and water evaluation and
planning tool WEAP.
