Package sun-java6-jdk is not available, but is referred to by another package.

Starting with Lucid, Sun's Java has been moved to the Ubuntu

Sun Java moved to the Partner repository

For Ubuntu 10.04 LTS, the sun-java6 packages have been dropped from the Multiverse section of the Ubuntu archive. It is recommended that you use openjdk-6 instead.

If you can not switch from the proprietary Sun JDK/JRE to OpenJDK, you can install sun-java6 packages from the Canonical Partner Repository. You can configure your system to use this repository via command-line:

     add-apt-repository "deb http://archive.canonical.com/ lucid partner"
"""

It's about time we decided on a Java JRE to use, Sun's or
OpenJDK.
 - software improves with time so abandon old prejudices, base
new prejudices on new tests.. :) ie don't assume the new
version of OpenJDK doesn't work (/as fast), prove it.
 - do we even have license permission to redistribute Sun's?
 - shipping two if we don't have to is wasteful..

ERROR: gvsig package failed to install
--no other error messages exposed? why not?
why no compliants from ./install_java.sh either?
...where has stderr gone? a tee needed?

gvsig-withjre: Depends: libgdal1-1.5.0
--updated in SVN to use lucid's 1.6.0
(1.7.0 seems avail from UbintuGIS too, if req'd)

... after this pretty much everything else is not at all happy.

I'd suggest running install_java.sh, install_geoserver.sh,
install_gvsig.sh, and install_apache2.sh by hand before trying
another full build. Without java, apache, and gdal installed
properly we aren't going to get very far..
