<font style="font-family: Tahoma; font-size: 10pt">Hello Dane,<BR><BR>We have not restricted the use of Terminal .<BR><BR>To test this issue , i started a new GISVM on click2try as a non-logged in user. <BR><BR>Yes, i observed that after click of icon "Start Mapnik & TileLite" it opened me a terminal window and closed but i cannot view what has happened at back. To verify this , i have executed Mapnik from command line. Here is what i did and observed.<BR><BR>Opened Terminal.<BR>$ dash /home/user/launchassist.sh /usr/bin/mapnik_start_tilelite.sh <BR>Above command out some process running status and shown how to access it over web.<BR><BR>http://localhost:8000<BR><BR>So i kept the terminal opened and launched one browser and entered link <A href="http://localhost:8000">http://localhost:8000</A><BR> which opened me one web page. I just assume that it could be an home page of webnik (not sure)<BR><BR>Question:<BR>a) Is the observed web page displayed is mapnik application ?<BR>b) Does click of "Start Mapnik & TileLite" should open web browser as well to launch mapnik application.?<BR><BR>I am not sure above information helped. <BR><BR>About uDig,<BR>uDig application some times works and sometime does not work. I do not want to shortcut anything you are doing with him. But, I did observe something. First, I started a new GISVM virtual machine on click2try as a non-logged in user. I logged into the GISVM desktop as the user "user". I am able to open a terminal window. Then, I notice that if I try to start Mapnik from the icon it fails the first time. But, if I try to start it again, it succeeds.</SPAN></P>
