thumb drive from the osgeo-live-5.0.iso. How can I boot
that up in write mode so that I can copy my workshop

<p>The way to do this is to work in a virtual machine. You can
either create a VM (using VirtualBox or VMWare Player) from the
ISO or use the existing VM downloaded from the live.osgeo.org
website. In your VM make any changes you need. Then, when you've
finished, use the script in
/usr/local/share/gisvm/bin/build_iso.sh to make your new,
customized ISO. The ISO is created inside the VM, so you'll have
to copy it out to your host machine (i.e shared folders...). Now
burn a copy of the new ISO and try it out... </p>
<p>BTW, Beware of space constraints. There's not much space to add
additional data. The above build_iso.sh script takes an option
'mini'. to create an ISO without the windows installers, saving
some 100's of MB of space in the DVD.</p>
