Hi,<br>
<br>
Can you describe what you changed in the Virtual Machine? <br>
<br>
Root login has to be enabled for Ubuntu/Xubuntu etc<br>
<br>
As for hosting your thesis using OSGeo Live, I remind you that this
is Free and Open Source Software, so basically yes :)<br>

<td style="font: inherit;" valign="top">Hi,<br>
<br>
I am Shahjalal. I am developing one system for my thesis.
I am a student of Geodesy and Geoinformatics of The Royal
Institute of Technology (KTH), Sweden. <br>
<br>
I am using OSGeo live. I am new with OSGeo live and Ubuntu
system. I already installed it in my laptop with virtual
machine. I configured some files such as php.ini and
change the permission of some folders and files. But, I
did not touch GeoServer. Now, I have the following
problems.<br>
<br>
1. I can not open start GeoServer. I already checked the
documentation. But, every time I am trying to start
GeoServer it shows following error. I do not know how to
solve it.<br>
<br>
<span style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;">Failed
to execute command
"/usr/local/bin/geoserver_start_admin.sh".</span><br
style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;">
<br style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;">
<span style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;">Failed
to execute child process
"/usr/local/bin/geoserver_start_admin.sh" (Permission
denied)</span><br>
<br>
<br>
2. When ever I logged in, i logged in as a normal user. I
know in command prompt using <span style="font-style:
italic;">sudo</span> command i can get the privilege of
root. But, I want to log in as root user. Is it possible?<br>
<br>
3. I have a plan to host my map service using OSGeo Live,
which i am preparing for my thesis. It will be a free
service. Can I do it? Do I need to get permission from
OSGeo Live community?<br>
<br>
Thanks,<br>
