Micha, Peter,
With regards to an OSGeo-Live based course, we do have an abstract
which you can make use of or customise:
https://github.com/OSGeo/OSGeoLive-doc/blob/master/en/presentation/workshop_abstract.txt

The assumption would be that you run through the existing
quickstarts in the documentation.

If you are still looking for presenters, you might want to look at
the OSGeo Advocate list and approach likely candidates directly:
Thanks for your follow-up. Here [1] are the details I entered
for the short course.

So far we have a few volunteers [2] who are willing to take on
parts of the presentation. I have contacted Mike Smith about
financing a batch of USB drives to hand out to SC
participants. He seems willing to reimburse if I purchase and
prepare the disks. I have no idea how many disks to buy. Any
input from people who participated in earlier EGU events is
welcome.

So we're good to go, so far. Just looking for more people to
join and do part of the demo/tutorial. I'll initiate direct
contact with those who expressed an interest, and try to
finalize the list of presenters.

Best regards,

Hi Micha, all,
I just wanted to ask about the current status of the planning for the Short Courses.
As far as I understand the dates remain to be settled (or Copernicus will do this) and volunteers to present OSGeo projects in the course(s) need to be found. By now everybody who submitted abstracts should have gotten feedback regarding acceptance so we can determine who'll be able to attend the meeting and might be willing to volunteer.
My knowledge about Short Courses is limited. Do we have anybody in the group who participated or presented in EGU Short Courses in the past ? This would be very usefuly information about how to make the most of the Short Courses, the Townhall and the sessions.
FWIW, the EGU GA continues to grow. In the 2016 the number of abstracts rose by 2000 to about 17.000 abstracts for all Divisions. Chances are good we will meet many FOSS-interested scientists in Vienna :-)
Best,
Peter
