Hi,

yeah, the reporting tools look promising and it has a pretty broad
feature spectrum.

We're using for some time this data modelling tool:
http://www.sqlpower.ca/page/architect,
It's to some extent DB-independant. You can create a modell and
generate the code for different db systems.
One drawback is that geometry columns are not supported. One thing
I've just read is that it can compare db models... sounds interesting
wrt. updating.
