[Mapbender-users] did anyone ever experience a problem sending a lot of vertices via WFS...

Hi List,

This is a conceptual question:
I am very impressed and pleased testing mapbender and I'm just about to
start using it for a big web mapping project :) .

However, I was a little concerned that it can only use WMS + WFS as input
sources: A friend told me that in one web mapping project (using open layers
in his case), he had to use a OL.mapserver layer for highlighting of
features on the map since WFS didn't seem to cut it sending tens of
thousands of vertices. Standard, yes, but what good is a standard for
crashing browsers? He told me that WFS and GeoJSON often exceed the
limitations of bandwidth and of PCs.
Thus, my question is whether anyone ever ran into problems of large vector
data (from WFS) send to mapbender/the browser that resulted in a crash and
if yes whether there any or solutions out there to handle that?
One approach of course could be to use simplified/weeded vector data...

Any thoughts on that?

Hallo J|rgen,

manchmal kvnnen die Lvsungen so einfach sein. Ja, funktioniert einwandfrei.
Besten Dank f|r den Tip.

Mein Vorschlag ist nun, diese kleine Anpassung in die ndchste Version des
Mapbenders einzubauen. Zu dndern sind folgende 3 Skripte:
- mod_getArea.php
- mod_closePolygon.js
- mod_rubber.js

Viele Gr|_e
