Hey,
probably something wrong in mapbender.conf.

It depends on the version you are using how the reproject is processed. Up
until V.2.3 you needed to have (must have) PostgreSQL with PostGIS to be
able to reproject. As of V.2.4 you can also use MySQL, then Mapbender
falls back to use GEOS.

If you use PG you should also enable PostGIS in the mapbender db so that
MB can use the reprojection methods to calculate the new bboxes.

Maybe ./tools/mapbender_setup.php helps to identify the problem.
