Hi Albrecht,
yes, Mapbender can insert, update and delete WFS-T features since 
roughly two years and is used in productive environments. You can check 
the digitizing WFS-T functionality on several demo portals.

Find an older version here:
http://wms.wheregroup.com/mapbender/

Log in as test / test and select "gui_digitize" from the list.

The default user interface has not been optimized - its ugly. :-)

To select a feature use the buttons on the top right. The objects will 
be displayed in the lower left section. Then use the buttons under the 
digitize tab (opens at the start) to edit features.
