This is where it gets interesting:

This is where Mapbender receives the initial bounding box to zoom to. 
And it is correctly specified in WGS84 / alias EPSG:4326

If you want another CRS to start with you have to add the corresponding 
bounding box to your service.


While you are at is I suggest that you deactivate the full listing of 
SRS in GeoServer, it will only mess up your Mapbender database and 
produces a lot of noise where it is not necessary.

You can also remove the WKT definition of the CRSses. I know of no 
clients that actually use this information in a useful manner.

Here you have additional CRS bounding box information. But it is only on 
the layer level and tehrefore is not recognized by Mapbender as a valid 
start box.
