 The idea is to keep the old map image alive as long as the new map image
 is not loaded after a map request.

 Additionally, we could use some animation effects to visualize the type of
 the map request, like enlarging the existing image on "zoom in" or gently
 move the image on "center" or "navFrame" interactions.
