<p>actually an update/migration from 2.7 to 3.0 is not possible with big implementations and not all options of mb2 are available for mb3. this will be done in the next years. at our projects (federal state level geoportals), we work with the trunk version and we will do this further on for the next few years (incl. security fixes and some new functions). we have more than 20.000 registred users, many gui's and many groups and therefor we need a really good automatical migration :-( . <br /></p>
<p>if you don't really need the new functions of mb3, you may stay at the 2.7 level. we plan to build a 2.8 version in a some months. one of our goals is to use some export handlings to allow the publishing of mb2 guis with mb3 frontends before beginning the real migration. <br /></p>
<p>if your installation is quiet small and you don't use wfs-t and other things like inspire metadata management, you may do a parallel installation and check out mb3. but you have to register your services / users / groups in both environments. mb3 is used in many productive environments and maybe it is a good idea to use it for your use case.<br /></p>
