Welcome to the project :)

1. It supports many spatial formats, not only databases, through Feature
Data Objects:
http://fdo.osgeo.org/
A list of providers can be found here:
http://fdo.osgeo.org/OSProviderOverviews.html

2. It uses an internal DbXml database to store data that is not spatial.
It is located in the repository folder, but you should not modify it
manually.
You might have heard talk of the SDF format, which is a database like
format for spatial data.

3. Yes! There are 3 different ones, they are listed in the "Getting
started with MapGuide" guide on page 3:
http://mapguide.osgeo.org/2.0/documentation.html

4. There are error reports for Firefox 3:
http://trac.osgeo.org/mapguide/search?q=Firefox+3&noquickjump=1&ticket=on&changeset=on&wiki=on
If your problem does not match on of the described ones, please create a
ticket for it.

Regards, Kenneth Skovhede, GEOGRAF A/S
