[mapguide-users] KingOracle dataconnection problem: Maestro/Studio

I have copied varoius Client files into MG/FDO/ directory, with no luck. Also, I installed different Clients, even did a copy/paste the whole MGOS folder from my old server. No luck.
Also, when I try to run the FDO2FDO program from the same mashine, it gives me the following error:
Unable to load the FDO provider: The specified module could not be found.
The same FDO2FDO works from different hosts with no Oracle Client installed. So, I figured it's not a Oracle Client error.

Now I suspect that Windows 2008 is somehow blocking the KingOracle provider from executing. Don't know if it's possible, but can't figure out anything else. I tried to play with permissions, but, that's not it.

Is there some tool on Windows 2008 / Vista that could prevent the FDO provider from executing?

Regards,
    Bojan Franc

If your Oracle client is in a directory other than your MapGuide or FDO installation I usually set the following:

PATH, ORACLE_HOME and TNS_ADMIN. This assumes your Oracle instant client has everything in a single folder. Do not add semicolons to the end of ORACLE_HOME or TNS_ADMIN.

You may need to reboot, but at a minimum restart the MapGuide server.

  Dave

Here is a screenshot of my dependencies. It has some errors, but something else than Oracle Client or KingOracle.

On the left is my new server (the one that has problems), on the right is the old one where everything works.

I am not so familiar with DLLs, don't know what to do with this info now. Seems the FDO and Oracle Client files are being found.

  Thanks for trying to help.

If you use the Dependency Walker on the dll's on the old machine, you can see what files it references.
You can then guess what you need to install, by looking at folder names for referenced dll files.

I have Oracle 11gR1 database on the host. Tried installing Oracle Client 11g, but still no luck.

Now will try to install Client 10g x64, if that doesn't work I'll install Client 10g 32bit.

Am not so happy about it, but can't figure anything else.

My old Mapguide server connect perfectly to my new Oracle 11g database with the old Oracle 10.2 client.

I'm no Oracle expert, so I can only say that I usually install an "instant client" on the machine,
      and it works after that.

I don't have Oracle Client installed. The Oracle database is on the same host, do I need to install the client or just copy some DLLs to some MGOS location?

      Thanks for reply!
