[mapguide-users] Mapguide Crashing IIS (w3wp.exe) service or viceVersa

Hi,

We've seen his error with 3 different client applications. All 3 are using
MGE 2009, not MGOS. An official support case has been reported to Autodesk,
but so far no ideas on the cause or a resolution.

All 3 clients are running MGE 2009 with SP1 on Windows 2003, both w/SP1 &
SP2, all running IIS and .NET.

We believe it is related to the MGE 2009 service pack. At one client's the
error is fatal...requires not only a complete uninstall of MGE but also a
re-format of the drives and re-installation of the OS. After re-installing
the OS, MGE 2009 w/SP1 still gives the same error. However, format the
drives & re-install Win2003 and then install MGE 2009 WITHOUT SP1 resolves
the issue entirely on the same machine. The second client can not afford to
take the server offline so we have a scheduled MGE service stop/start
process running every 15 mins. At the 3rd client, the error occurs
periodically, but a simple reboot resolves it.

Again all of this occurs with MGE 2009, not MGOS, but figured for those of
you experiencing similar behavior this info might be of help.

Cheers,
Andrea

I get a similar error message on Windows 2003 Server and MGOS 2.0.2.
Usually upon login in I'll have several console messages about w3wp.exe
error messages and sometimes the IIS Worker Process. But, it's never been
fatal for me and MapGuide still ticks along (has been for about two months
without one restart) so I've ignored it for the most part.

I do have the raster patch described in this thread implemented, however.
Maybe that would help your problems.
