I didn't need luck, just your help!!!  Your changes worked.  Just to note:

mappdf.php

118     $tempMapImgPath .= $ImageType.$sessionId.time().$ImageFormat;   //
(dot before equal) on saveImage function 


Should be at line 128


Also, you need to have a "fonts" folder in the same directory as fpdf.php
file (typical is C:\Program
Files\OSGeo\MapGuide\Web\www\fusion\layers\MapGuide\php)

The resulting pdf image isn't the best quality, so I'll have to figure out
some additional tweaks...(anyone care to share?), but pdf creation at least
is possible.
