I just ran through Jackie's article you referenced and everything worked fine. Tho I'm running the commercial (Autodesk) version of IMS (MapGuide) 2012. 

Did you set your initial map view in the map? I left mine at 0 and it initially dumped me in the middle of the Atlantic at 0lat, 0lon. To get my initial view to Arizona, USA I had to zoom WAAAY out and find the correct initial map view settings. I used:

LL: -12795444	3638381
UR: -12115460	4435772

Otherwise Jackie's article worked like a champ for me to run Bing.

I have followed Jackie Ng's "zero to bing in 60 seconds" article.

When I create a flexible layout with a map that runs fine in AJAX, the web
preview shows the main windows (Legend, Selection, Tasks and Overview Map)
and nothing else.  The windows are blank.
