[mapguide-users] Problems with spatial select on MSSQL based layer

Check your spatial indexes and the area they cover (ie. Not covering the
whole planet).

Use RDBMS provider trace logging
(http://themapguyde.blogspot.com.au/2013/01/mapguide-tidbits-fdo-rdbms-provider.html)
to see what SQL is being executed and combine it with your query
analysis/planning tools in SQL Server to see where it is bottlenecking.
