Oracle Spatial with MGEnterprise 2007, you must realize that the only certified
combination is Oracle DB 10g R1 10.1.0.2 (I recommend 10.1.0.4 or later because
of the bugs and fixes provided by Oracle that are related with Spatial Data) and
yes there is some issues like MGE can not determine the type of geometry from
the table (Point, Polygon, Polyline) , because as you know that information is
stored into Oracle Spatial Metadata, but that’s is not mandatory as same
as the SRID (where the coordinate system is stored) , there is also some
flexible issues in the Oracle Spatial Architecture that makes difficult validating
the feature tables (in the past Adsk Map 3D generates his own metadata info
that was read by MapGuide 6.5), further information is provided by Oracle Spatial
Documentation and Courses.

the only necessary things you must have to work fine with Oracle is an Oracle
DB Server 9.2.0.5 or 10.1.0.3 with the Spatial Option Enabled, and for the
computer running MGE you need an Oracle Client 10g 10.1.0.2 or later (I had got
problems with Oracle Instant Client), and the Autodesk FDO Provider for Oracle

Our experiences aren't great. Some of our data displays but is quite
slow.
Creating a layer from an Oracle Spatial source is extremely slow (over a
the schema metadata, but I don't really know.
You can see my original (as yet unanswered) post here regarding one of my
specific problems here:
