I'm also finding the way that new resources are created a little hard to get used to.<div><br></div><div>In the previous version of Maestro, you could right-click at a particular level in the tree, choose New Item, and it would create the resource there immediately. With the preview version, it creates a new resource in the editor but doesn't add it to the library (I assume it's either in memory or saving to the session) and then when I go to save it I have to hunt my way down the resource tree to the location I want to save it in. </div>
<div><br></div><div>I can understand not wanting to save the resource to the library until you have at least a name for it, but having to drill down on save is pretty frustrating on highly-nested resource trees.</div><div>

A couple things may streamline this experience a bit: allowing double-click to act as "Add", and defaulting to the category that the user selected last. A bit more radically, perhaps instead of categories you could allow the user to select a target site version (maybe even when connecting to a site), which would default to the greatest version the currently connected site supports, and then present the highest version templates that this target version supports. User defined templates of acceptable version levels could be displayed inline with the stock templates, or in a separate pane below them.</div>

- Multi-selection support for the Site Explorer. Yes, you can now finally<br>
copy/cut/delete/validate *multiple* resources at once!<br>
- Ability to create new resources in specific versions of their respective<br>
xsd schema.<br>
- Support for browsing DWF symbol libraries<br>
- View outbound http requests made by the site connection<br>
- Drag and drop support<br>
- Drag/drop SDF/SHP/SQLite files to create feature sources with these<br>
files embedded<br>
- Drag/drop XML documents to create the corresponding resource<br>
- Enhanced resource validation<br>
- WebLayout<br>
- Check for duplicate command names<br>
- Check for orphaned menu items<br>
- Check for duplicate property references in search commands<br>
- Load Procedure<br>
- Check for non-existent source files<br>
- Warn about unsupported options in Maestro<br>
- Redundant messages are discarded from the final result<br>
- Local Feature Source Preview is now a separate application<br>
(MaestroFsPreview.exe)<br>

Note that Maestro 3.0 is still lacking some features from 2.x as they are<br>
still in the process of being ported over:<br>

- MgCooker<br>
- Official MapGuide API support<br>
- Custom user resource templates<br>
- Raster layer editor<br>
- Package editor<br>
- Server statistics monitor<br>
- Fusion editor<br>
- Specialized feature source editors for other providers<br>
- Possibly others<br>

Some other general notes when testing this build:<br>

- Found a bug? Ask yourself: Did this bug exist in Maestro 2.x, and hence<br>
is a known problem?<br>
- Similarly, that Maestro 2.x issue you filed in Trac some time ago: Has it<br>
been fixed or successfully worked around with this build?<br>
- So generally speaking, it really helps to have an existing installation<br>
of Maestro 2.x on hand (current release being 2.1.4) as a baseline<br>
comparison to whether something has been fixed or broken.<br>
- All existing Maestro tickets will be re-targeted to the maestro-3.0<br>
milestone<br>

For those on non-Windows systems: Sorry, this build doesn't currently work<br>
properly in Mono due to some nasty XML serialization bugs. This will be<br>
addressed in future builds.<br>
