4.7 too on my Ubuntu 12.04; libproj0 installs in /usr/lib/
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 16 Nov 8 2009 /usr/lib/libproj.so.0
-> libproj.so.0.6.6
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 271496 Nov 8 2009
/usr/lib/libproj.so.0.6.6
but it requires proj-data 4.7 that installs many files in
/usr/share/proj

If you've got that, unless you used the proj_data_dir config
command with an error, it should work.

BTW, instead of using proj_data_dir and have to duplicate all /usr/share/proj
in it, I'd be better off adding a file to /usr/share/proj. Easy to
publish with a DEB.
That's probably because MP needs not reproject in that case.

That's exactly why I recommend DEBs/RPMs.
If all that's needed to install and test is a click of the DEB/RPM
and of a shortcut, one cannot make any installation mistake and if
the installed sample doesn't run (and the Internet is connected, of
course) the error is most certainly in the system.
And spending even a full day to spare tens of persons a week each is
time well spent !!!

In this case, it can be an installation error, a mapproxy.yaml error
or a MP error.
I'd recommend running the distributed .yaml sample. If it runs, the
error is in your config, else only ⅔ of the problem remains ;-)
It seems to me, Mila, that your openSUSE systems lacks the
libproj0 package.
If it were installed, it would mean that Mapproxy doesn't find it.
Install it and tell us (about the cheese ;-))

I would like to know how you installed Mapproxy on SUSE.
There is a Mapproxy RPM packet that should avoid that kind of
problems by requiring libproj0.
If you installed the package and libproj0 is missing, you should
report that RPM package problem.
See my next message to this list.
