Thomas,

Assefa and Zak completed an initial version of an ImageMagick  
renderer, which did a nice job but was pretty slow, as much as 10  
times slower than GD in fact.  I believe that we dropped it in favour  
of AGG.  I'm not sure if any code got committed, but it should still  
be around somewhere if you are interested in taking a look at it.
